The Serbia National Pavilion for Expo 2027 Belgrade is conceived as a cultural landmark and central gathering place within the new Expo district. Its evolving geometry transitions from a cubic base to a softened spherical form, expressing movement and transformation. Designed to host over 100,000 daily visitors, the pavilion integrates exhibition, public spaces, and a rooftop garden, positioning architecture as a platform for cultural exchange and collective experience.

Standing at the center of a new urban chapter for Belgrade, the Serbia National Pavilion for Expo 2027 is envisioned as both a national symbol and a dynamic public space. Located in the emerging Surčin Expo district, the pavilion occupies a 55 × 60 meter footprint and spans a total net area of 13,544 m² (GFA: 17,244.14 m²).

The architectural concept is defined by a transformation of form, from a grounded cubic base to a softened spherical expression at the upper levels. This gradual evolution reflects themes of movement, continuity, and openness, aligning with the Expo 2027 theme “Play for Humanity – Sport and Music for All.” The building’s volumetric shifts generate terraces, voids, and transitions that create a rich interplay between interior and exterior space.

The pavilion contains approximately 5,800 m² of exhibition space, including a 2,650 m² main exhibition hall, supported by immersive entry sequences and transitional environments. Additional program elements include an information center, hospitality areas, administrative zones, and visitor services. A publicly accessible rooftop garden functions as a civic terrace, offering panoramic views across the Expo site and acting as a platform for events and informal gatherings.

Structurally, the pavilion is organized around four reinforced concrete cores combined with a cantilevered steel structural system. The building envelope is clad in high-performance architectural ceramic panels, giving the façade a refined, contemporary expression with precise material articulation. Integrated vertical lighting elements activate the building at night, reinforcing its sculptural identity.

At ground level, four entry portals carved between textured stone walls establish a strong physical connection to the landscape while guiding visitors into the building. Inside, the spatial experience balances monumental scale with carefully articulated material contrasts. The central lobby introduces visitors to the pavilion narrative through curated installations and a circular display, before directing movement upward via a prominent red escalator into the exhibition levels.

Designed to accommodate approximately 5,000 visitors simultaneously, with a projected daily capacity exceeding 100,000 people, the pavilion represents one of the largest cultural venues developed for Expo 2027. Beyond the event itself, it contributes to the long-term development of a new urban district, positioning Belgrade as a platform for international dialogue, cultural exchange, and future-oriented thinking.
